Couch update!

Hello lovelies,

I have been seeing a ton of living room decor involving pillows. All of my favorite pinterest pins show beautiful seating arrangements with pillows all over. Here's one of the photos that inspired me the most.

Pillows add a look of comfort and are very inviting to your guests. The patterns and textures you choose can also accent the room. I decided on fabric that had glitter, gold shades, and soft fur, this way i could have lots of texture while glamming up the couch. Just be sure to pick out colors that work well the the color of the seating you have. You can go to any decor store and pick out pillows or make your own like i did.

All you need to do is cut your fabric into squares (because thats the easiest shape) of whatever size you want or cut them to the same size of the pillows that came with the couch. I used a ruler to measure mine out to 23 inches (which left 1/2 inch seam allowance). You can also get creative and cut them into rectangles, circles, diamonds, etc.

Once you get them cut you can begin to put them together. Just place the fabric with the right sides (the side you want the outside of the pillow to look like) together. Now you can either glue or sew the edges of the fabric together but leave an opening on one side about five to six inches wide for stuffing. Once thats all done, clip the corners or trim the edges so that your pillow will have perfect edged once its flipped.  Now turn your pillow inside out. You should start to see the pillow forming.

The stuffing, which is my favorite part, comes next. You can buy prepackaged stuffing or get old pillows from a thrift store and use the stuffing inside of those. I used the thrift store approach. Just cut a hole to empty the old pillow out and then start stuffing your new pillow.

Once you're all done stuffing your pillow and its all even inside you can close it up. Use a regular needle and thread to close up the opening you left before.

Thats all there is to it!

Here's my finished look..

I hope you enjoyed this post! Whenever your home needs a little update, try adding some new accents to the place!
