I finally decided to let my boyfriend do my makeup! I have been thinking of the perfect video for him to do. This one just seemed like a great idea. He did a great job for someone who has never done makeup before!
It's time to get back on track. 2018 is fast approaching and I have started thinking of new goals for the coming year.. (That also means I'm going to be writing the wrong year for the next month or so) I know so many of us are all about hitting the gym and getting that "summer body". I, however, am trying to think on a bigger scale, pardon the pun. I have decided to focus on making career, health, fitness, and overall growth goals. Sound like a lot, I'm sure, but I wanted to make mine a bit more specific.
Career goals:
I want to grow my blog and YouTube channel following this year. I am planning to do this by first looking for mentors. Mentors do not necessarily have to be direct. You can have third party mentors as well. This means finding people who have already done what you want to do. Those people include celebs, authors, social media personalities, etc. You can follow things they have written, projects they have worked on, or books/articles that have been written about them. Follow what they did and use their tips and advice to get where you want to be. I'm also going to dive into as many books as I can handle. One of the best things I have ever been told to be successful was to "read, read, and read some more!" Knowledge is a great tool to have on your side. So, check Amazon, book stores, and even the local library to find as many books as you can. I have recently been doing a lot of searches for books by popular YouTubers, bloggers, entrepreneurs, and artists.
Health goals:
I have really been bad in this area for the past year or so. High blood pressure runs in my family, and I was diagnosed with it this year, so I definitely need to get back on track. I check my blood pressure daily and take medicine to keep my pressure in check, so I added vitamins to balance everything out. Vitamins are important to stay healthy, so taking those plus some probiotics pumps up my daily routine.Eating is also key, so some menu changes are in order for me. I have been searching pinterest lately for new healthy recipes to try. This proves to be challenging, since you never know how they're going to turn out. (Can we say, Pinterest fail?) The biggest thing for me is snacks. I love munching all day long, so keeping healthy snack around is going to have to be a must. Another thing that will be necessary, is sleep. I plan on going to bed early every night. At least that way I can get enough rest to try to become a morning person. (I said "try" so, no promises!) Fitness goals:
Fitness goals kind of go hand in hand with health goals. Once I get my health under control, I plan on focusing on getting back into the gym. I won't be doing all my workouts in the gym though. I want to make a well-rounded plan that involves, gym, home, and leisure workouts. I love getting out into nature, so I will definitely be incorporating some fun hikes and stuff. I found a great book by Women's Health Magazine, that shows you all about different workout routines. t even goes in depth to show you how to do each move. I also have found some apps that offer workouts to do at home with trainers that work out along with you.I plan to stay away from the scale for as long as possible. Since I want to gain muscle, the number on the scale isn't as important to be as getting toned. As long as I can find something fun to do to keep active, I should be just fine.
Growth goals:
I love learning. I always have. I like the feeling of accomplishing something new. It's a great feeling for sure. In the coming year, I want to focus on a few different things. I want to learn another language. I want to learn more photography techniques. I want to take a makeup class. I want to take cooking classes. I want to travel to new places and see new things. It may seem like I want to try to accomplish a lot, but it is important to do things for yourself. After all, you are the most important person in your own life.
Well, as you can see, I have a pretty full list of things to accomplish. I'm going to do my best to stick with as many as I can. I know I will be a better "me" as long as I give it my all. Hopefully you enjoyed my post and maybe you can make your own list of goals for your own 2018 glow up!
"Tomboy" is the phrase that comes to mind when I think of baseball caps. I remember my father always wore one when I was growing up and the local boys sported theirs around town. They aren't boyish or anything, but they do have a relaxed, carefree, kind of vibe to them.
I never really thought of myself as a "hat person" per say but lately I have been loving them. I had two caps personalized with my brand name which have become my favorites. I also found a denim one on Amazon that I am loving right now. There are so many ways to wear them. You can even use a cap to save you on a bad hair day, which has been my most used reason. I'm sure I'm not the only girl who would rather throw my hair in a pony tail and grab a hat instead of doing it sometimes.
I have put together three relaxed looks using my new caps. I may do a blog post later on to show how you could pair baseball caps with dressy looks, but first, let's get into the casual looks!
For the first look I paired my dad cap with a relaxed t-shirt, blue jeans and basic white sneakers. I accessorized with my 90's style sunglasses.
The next look features my denim hat. I wore it with blue jeans, white trainers, and my boyfriend's flannel. (Your boyfriend's closet can be a great source of inspiration!)
This last look was my favorite because it includes my most worn hat. It is a classic baseball cap with my brand name embroidered on the front. I paired it with a white t-shirt, a denim shirt, and black pants. The pants are super stretchy, which makes them very comfy. To finish the look I wore my Nike running shoes.
Hopefully you enjoyed these looks I pulled together. Stay tuned for my next post!
I absolutely love decorating my home (and redecorating it for that matter). I am constantly finding new ideas of ways to switch things up. I get my inspiration from magazines, store layouts, YouTube videos, and I basically stalk the Pinterest home page every day. My mind is always changing, so I figure my style and decor should change with me.
I have been wanting to do a DIY so I thought I would take on something for my studio space. It's a place where I get ready, work on my computer, sketch, and just chill out. I wanted something that would add to the space but not overwhelm it. I found this little table at the goodwill and thought it would be perfect. It was only $4!
I was searching online and found a bunch of similar tables that were pretty pricey. I figured I could fix up my new table to look similar for far less money.
I went to Walmart and picked up a few things for my table makeover. I ended spending about $10 or $15 for the supplies.
It didn't take long to finish the whole thing, and it came out great. It looks good in my room and I can decorate it in so many different ways!
Hopefully you enjoyed this DIY, I definitely had fun making it!
I decided to create a new series of posts dedicated to showing you all how I would wear certain items from my closet. I am calling these post, "How To Style: _____". I will be choosing an article of clothing and then showcasing it in each post. This seemed like a fun and creative way to see how I might wear something and could be a good way of keeping track of what's actually in my closet... (That proves to be a struggle sometimes lol)
Sometimes when I buy a new top or something; I start to wonder how I would end up styling it. To help myself out, I would go straight to YouTube or Pinterest to get some ideas. Since I look for inspiration in such ways, i figured I would spread some of my own ideas of what to wear too.
My first "How To Style" post is about cape blazers. I became fascinated with these while watching a show on Netflix. One of the characters had on this really cute outfit for work that caught my eye. She was wearing a white cape blazer, a simple black top, and some leather black skinny pants. I thought it was a cool and elegant outfit for wear to work, so I made a mental note of the look. Later on I searched online until I found one that was perfect. So perfect in fact I ordered two! I ended up getting a short white one and a long black one.
With all that said, let's get to styling!
Thank you for checking out my latest post. Stay tuned for my next look.
Tattoos are a tricky subject. Everybody has their own opinions on the subject. Some people feel that they are unnecessary and you shouldn't mark your body. While some others feel that they are an expressions of one's self. I believe the latter; everyone has the right to express themselves and tattoos are just a means to do so. I, personally, wouldn't get anything to crazy. I prefer to stick to minimal ones.
I was always intrigues by tattoos before I got mine. I would see others with them and wonder what they meant or if they hurt. I have a slight fear (okay, big fear) of needles, so I assumed that it was the same kind of pain. I would daydream about what I would get if I were to visit the tattoo parlor. When it came to actually going in, I would chicken out. I am thankful that I didn't end up with some of those designs I had found before. I would've been stuck with a giant Tinker Bell on my lower back or some other random character! It took me years to actually get my first tattoo and I am happy I decided to wait.
I currently have four tattoos. They all have special meaning to me. I thought for a while about them and felt that I would get things that I would be happy to show for the rest of my life. Each of my tattoos share a little bit of my life. I find them to be a good conversation starter when people notice them as well
-My Tattoos-
This one was my very first tattoo. It is actually my dad's signature. I was able to get a copy of it after he passed away. I was devastated by his passing and wanted a way to always have him with me. It's very personal to me because my dad meant so much to me (I am definitely a daddy's girl). I am able to look at it everyday and remember his life. It was such a big hit when I got it, that my little brother actually wants the same one now,
I picked this design because of my anxiety. I have struggled with anxiety and depression ever since my dad passed away. Some days are worse than others, but I am able to get through day by day. I wanted to get something to remind myself that things will get better and that bad days will pass. I picked the scripture that said "This too shall pass". It represented something that I always need to hear. I wanted something in script, so I looked up different fonts. This one was perfect for me, because I like how you can't tell what it says immediately.
This tiny airplane is a fun one. It represents my ever growing wanderlust. Traveling is one of my favorite things to do. I wanted something that was small, interesting, and expressed my love of exploring. Since flying is my preferred way to travel, a jet seemed to be fitting. I decided not to fill it in because i like the way the single outline looks. I had them point it up and away from my wrist so it looks like the planes is constantly taking off.
My latest tattoo is this line of roman numerals. This one was tricky because I didn't know where I wanted it to be placed. I chose to have it go straight down my upper/inner bicep. I feel like it might have looked better if I had it placed further down, but now that I have had it for a little while, the placement is growing on me. It says 28-5-30. This is significant to me because it represents my father's and my birthday, which are May 28th and May 30th. I got it as another little reminder of how close we were, and still are in spirit.
In the future, I will be getting more tattoos for sure. I have a few designs picked out already, so it's just a matter of time before I get those. As I go through life and experience more and more, I will find new things that I want to remember. I think that having a little symbol that will always be with me is a great way to do that.
Uh oh, here we go again! They set out that infamous "2 for $24" sign and I get swept in the door. It happens every time!
I know I'm not the only one who gets sucked in by Bath and Body Works and their glorious scents.I have gotten to the point where I don't even try to fight it anymore. After all, who doesn't love a lovely smelling home, right?
(Mineral Springs and Blue Water Lily)
Candles can be used for more than just scents. Candles are great decorating as well. For instance, I picked some pretty jars and holders to match my metallic decor. You can set them on you desk, on a bookcase, next to the television, or on your table as an accent. Candles are also great for setting a mood or tone in a space. If you want to relax you can light a candle near the bath and soak away. If you are dreaming of a far away place and need some inspiration, you can also grab a candle to help you escape. Let's not forget to light some candles for those romantic nights as well.
My latest haul is my favorite so far, because of the cute new designs. I have included a few of the scents that I chose for you just in case you want to check them out for your self. Enjoy!
